Please answer these questions below and respond to your classmates answers:

1.) What is the morning ritual?
2.) Why must Jonas start taking the pill everyday?
3.) How are you feeling about the society in the book?

34 comments:

  1. 1. The morning ritual is when the family members tell their dreams to eachother.

    2. Jonas must start taking the pill everyday for the rest of his adult life because he had the dream , which is called stirrings. The pill treats the stirrings , it stops people from having weird dreams like jonas did.

    3. The society in the book to me seems weird and has all these rules such as, Each family has only two chilren(male/female), At age eight you begin your volunteer hours and there are much more that everyone must obey. To be honest I would not want to live there because I would feel like I can't do anything.

  4. 1. The morning ritual is when Jonas family tell about their dreams to each other.

2.Jonas must take this pills everyday beacause he had a dream, which was he wanted to wash Fiona in the bath tub. The community call this stirrings. What I think is about controlling their Hormones.

3.The society in the book to me is having no freedom and kind of weird. I say this because the parents can only have two children and has to be a boy and girl. Also at the age of 12 the kid should act more like adults so no hagging out with friends and other stuff kids do. Theres ton of other rules you need to obey in this community. If I live there honesty I will not like it because you need to obey a lot of rules, and the community would not allow me do things what I will like to do.

2.Jonas have to take the pills every morning because it helps him take away his stirring feelings away.

3.In my opinion, I don't like the society in the book because there is too much rules to follow. I think everyone should be free. The book states that there must be a family with one female and male. Also, at the age of eight they have to start doing volunteering hours. I think the kids should just relax. I would not want to live there because I am lazy.

  10. 1. The morning ritual is when you talk about your dreams and/or feelings.
2.Jonas has to take these pills so he stop having the stirrings(hormones)
3.Personally i think this community is being unfair because i thought there was something called freedom but it seems like it doesnt exist in this book. There are some rules that dont even make sense. For example you are ASSIGNED to be a birth mother.I believe its your choice whether you want to be a mother or not.But also you cant have intimidation with your own wife/husband. Thats just stupid

  11. 1. The morning ritual is when the family share there feeling and dreams.
2.Jonas take pills because he has bad dreams and the rest of adult life. If he don't take these pills he would have bad dreams all the time also would have bad hormones.
    3. I think the story is great because it is starting to get interesting and I want to know more about this weird community. I want to know why this community cant do the things we do now. This is why the book(The Giver)is starting to get interesting.

  15. 1) The morning ritual is that you have totell your dreams from the night before.

    2) Jonas has to take the pill everyday because he is starting to get stirrings.

    3) In my opinion i believe that the society is really strict. I think this because you cant ride other peoples bikes, each family can only have 2 children(male/female), and lastly you are not allowed to brag about accomplishments. I would not like to live in this society because it has too many rules and you can not hardly do anything that you want to do.

  17. 1) The Morning Ritual Is When Jonas Family Tells Each Other About Their Dream That They Had That Night.

    2) The Reason Why Jonas Has To Start Taking The Pill Everyday Because He Is Starting To Have Stirrings About Anxiously Wanting To Wash And See Fioana's Body.

    3) In My Opinion I Believe That The Society Is A(Utopia)Community That Believe Everything And Everyone Do All Things The Same So That It Won't Be As Much Trouble. Honstly , I Kind Of Don't Like This Type Of Community Because There Are Rules To Be Followed, I Was NEVER The Type To Follow Rules On How I Should Live And Realeasing Is Just Dumd . I Think The Ceremonies Are Just Not Called For As Well As Children Completeing Their Childhood At The Age Of 12 . And The Simple Fact That Girls Who Wanna Have Their Own Children Can't Or Even Have As Many Kids As They Want To Just Because Or Rules As Well As The Same Go For Young Men .
