  1. 1. What safety means to the society in the book is that the Elders keep away dangerous memories so the community will not feel harmed and traded all their different types of weather conditions, color , and difference and uniqueness about each person in the community for " Sameness " or a " Utopia " type of society. What safety means to me is don't cross with out looking and don't talk to strangers. To adults i think it means don't break the laws. To those in the cities same things apply unless their a child like me . To those in a rural area i really cant say what the rules are because each area has different rules and are runned a different way.

    2. What the giver share of his personal family life is his life is the room and that he had a spouse but now she is in the childless adults thing. I think he felt kind of down because had to go through pain and loneliness all his life.

    3. How Jonas react when the giver gives him the memory of breaking a leg in sledding is he was screaming and crying as if it really happened and tried to move but he couldn't. How Jonas understanding and growing wisdom increase after he experiences that pain is things really does hurt and he cant have no type of medication.

    4. How Jonas Calm Gabriel by soothing him in some type of way.

  2. 1. The safety means to the society in the book is to keep away painful and dangerous memories to community from harms way. This happen ten years ago when a new Reciever of memory failed on it. It said "the memories that she had received were released. They didn't go for the the giver they went to the community. It cause chaos in the community the people suffered alot for a while. This means certainly made them aware of how they need a Receiver to contain all the pain and knowledge. Thats why the community needs to be "Sameness". To me safety means you need to look after yourself from danger. Adults I think to obey the laws. To those in the cities is the samething to everyone. And rural areas is I think follow the rules that the community gives you.

    2. The Giver shared about his spouse to Jonas' but she lives now in the Childless adults. The Giver felt pain because he was a Receiver of memory too he was not allow to talk about his training to his spouse and community. He felt loneliness because he was different too fom the community like Jonas'.

    3. How Jonas' react when the giver gived him the memory of breaking his leg by sleding on a steep hill. He felt shocked and still, feeling nothing at first but fear and alot of pain in his leg and his face too. He screamed and cryed now he knew what kind of pain this was when he woke up and open his eyes. Jonas' understoad and growing wisdom increase after he experiences that pain. He needs wisdom because in order to keep this painful memories from the community he needs to be brave, show wisdom without medication.

4.Jonas' calms Gabriel by giving him a memory of a sailboat in the ocean to get him back to sleep. But Joanas' made a mistake because he was not allow to give away memories now. He though if he should confess to The Giver that he had given a memory away. Jonas' decided not to tell because he was not yet qualified to be a Giver himself.

  3. 1: The safety means to the society in the book is to keep away painful and dangerous memories to community from harms way.In the text it stated"Always in the dream, it seemed as if there were a destination: a something--he could not grasp what-that lay beyond the place where the thickness of snow brought the sled to a stop. He was left, upon awakening, with the feeling that he wanted, even somehow needed, to reach the something that waited in the distance. The feeling that it was good. That it was welcoming. That it was significant. But he did not know how to get there."In my home town for every one safety means to look both sides when you crossing the streats, dont play baseball with out a cup and stop at a red light and more type of safety.

2:The Giver tells him that being the Receiver makes family life difficult.Jonas will not be able to share his memories or books with his spouse or children. The Giver tells Jonas that his whole life will be nothing more than the memories he possesses. He occasionally will appear before the Committee of Elders to give them advice, but his primary function is to contain all the painful memories that the community cannot endure. When the new Receiver who was selected ten years before failed, all the memories she had received returned to the community, and the whole community suffered until the memories were assimilated. The Giver tells Jonas that his instructors know nothing, despite their scientific knowledge, because all of their knowledge is meaningless without the memories the Giver carries. In my opinion I think he felt sad because he could'nt see his parents or spent time with them.

3:The Giver gives Jonas a memory of falling from the sled, breaking his leg and scraping his face on ice. In agony, Jonas begs for medicine to relieve the pain. The Giver refuses, and Jonas remembers the rule in his instruction file.Jonas' understanding and growing wisdom increase after he experiences that pain because the pain is no longer unendurable, so he tries to be brave. Remembering the rules, he does not ask his father for medication, and he does not share his true emotions with his family. The realization that his family has never known pain makes him feel alone, and he dreams of the loneliness he felt in his memory. Nevertheless, the pain of the broken leg is the least of the painful experiences; The Giver imparts to him more memories of the world's suffering. He always leaves Jonas with a happy memory to assuage the suffering.

4:Well, when Jonas asked his parents if Gabriel could sleep in his room that night, he was still restless. Accidentally, when trying to calm him, Jonas passed him his memory of the sailboat on the lake, the Giver had given it to him. Gabriel went quiet. Later in the book, when Gabriel and Jonas were in the snow, Jonas gave Gabriel the memory of fire, and warmth.

#3. Jonas reacts to the giver giving him the memory of breaking a leg in the sled, he screamed and started to cry like he experienced it for real. The Giver shares how he came to be in pain how the failure of the receiver before Joans caused so much pain.I think the Giver feared that Joans would fale to.

When the Giver gives Joans the memory of breaking his leg while sledding he was in pain, fear.

The way Joans calmed Gabe was an accident he did not relize that he was giving the memory of a sail to him. When he did he called it back he was calmed when he stilled had it

  13. 1. For them safety is a little different from what we are used to. For us we do not need to turn to sameness in order to be safe. All we need to do is to watch out for eachother.
    2. What he shared with Jonas was that he had to go through many things in order to be the reciever of memories. This job of being the reciever seems very hard because now you have to be apart from everyone else. He cannot talk about his experiences of this important job.
