  1. 1)The story of rosemary is the giver gave have her the memory of love because that is how he felt about her. Also then he he had to give a memory of pain witch broke her heart but he only did it because it was his job.Then-he decided to give her the memory of emery-go-rounds and kittens playing and picnics because he new it would make her laugh. Then she asked for difficult memories. Then he gave her the memory of loneliness lie kids being taken from there parents then she asked for a release. The memories that was transferred to rosemary went back to the people. In the text it states"the giver reminded him, that when she was gone, the memories came back to the people. The training rules were changed after that result is that Jonas as the receiver can not as for a release. In the text it states"i was notified by the speaker that she had gone to the chief Elder and asked to be released. but that is against the rules.

2.What Jonas learn about rule #3 from the training is that if he wants to watch a release all he has to do is ask. In the text it states"If you want to watch a release, you have simply to ask."What this reveal to me as a reader is that since Jonas has always wanted to know what release he should go see what it is. Well it really doesn't affect me because is really confident about his assignment and well not do anything to keep it.

  2. 1) Rosemary was the previous receiver. The giver had only gave her good memories because he knew that if he gave her bad memories that it would hurt her. He knew that sooner or later he would have to give her a memory of pain. When the giver gave her a memory of loneliness and pain she had applied for release. They had to give it to her no matter what. After that the memories that were transferred to Rosemary had all went back to the people that it belonged to. As a result of that the put that the reciever could not apply for release. I think they did this because since they want to have control over everything they want to keep the memories away so that the community dont have individuality.

    2) He realized that if he wants to watch a release all he has to do OS ask. Jonas always wanted to know what a release was like. It doesn't affect me in any way because I already know from reading that when u are released you are sent elsewhere.

    1. hey gabby,
I agree with you in your first answer because Rosemary couldn't take the pain; that it well hurt her. Also, that once the giver gave Rosemary the memory of pain and loneliness she applied for release.

  3. Rosemary was a luminous person. She feeled the Giver life with joy.In many ways she was like Joans because they both wanted to learn about pain.Rosemary also was a outstanding young woman because of how much she wanted to gain knowledge and understanding. She was also very bright.Despit that she could not live with the painful memories that the Giver had.

Joans learns he can watch privte ceremonys such as release all he needs to do is ask. This reveales that Joans now knows what is going on in his society. However after seeing his own father taking away a life of a baby then thowing it away like trash he might not want to see any other privte things. This informs me about two things one this utopia inorder to keep that way they kill of there own. Also they are murderers.

  4. 1:She was the chosen new receiver before Jonas. But she never became a full receiver because she could not handle the sad memories like loneliness. Because of that she asked for a release.

2:Jonas learn that all you got to do to get release is ask.In Ch 18 it said that the old receiver Rosemary ask to be release because she could'nt handle the sad memories like loneliness. As the reader it reveal to me that release is really a bad think but also not a good think.I think that this affect my outlook on the book so far because In my opinion I think Jonas mind end up doing the same think Rosemary did, maybe because of the memories or maybe because he wants to get release.

  5. #1. Rosemary was the receiver of memory before Jonas. At first the Giver gave her good/happy memories because he felt that she wasn't ready for painful memories. When the giver gave her painful and loneliness, she couldn't take it so she applied for release. They had gave her the release because they didn't have the rule; that they cannot apply for release. When she was released the memories returned back to the community. Because of that, they made up the rule that the receiver of memory cannot apply for release.

#2. Jonas learned that if you want to get released all you have to do is ask. I think that this affect the outlook on the book because i think Jonas mind end up doing the same think Rosemary did, but since the rules say that he can't apply for release, he may runaway.

  6. 1. Rosemary was the receiver of memory before jonas was. The giver only gave her memories that were good and happy , he didn't want to give her painful and hurtful memories because he loved her and didn't want to see her hurt. It was his job though and she was excited and determine to have more memories so he gave her a memory of a loss and she was shocked, she didn't like it. After that he would give her good memories to see her smile or hear her laugh again but it wasn't the same she was scared and she didn't want to be the receiver of memory so she applied to be released . She was released but now the rules have changed jonas can not be released .

    2. Jonas learned that if he wanted to see someone get released all he has to do is ask . It reveals that jonas is feeling some type of way about people getting released . He didn't like people getting released , it isn't fair , its sad to see it .

  7. 1.Rosemary was the last receiver of memory before Jonas. The Giver had gave Rosemary happy and peaceful memory's because he had love/liked her,so if he had gave her bad memory's it will hurt her that why he had gave her all good memory's.Rosemary had told the Giver to give her a bad memory and he sad find because that's was his job.The Giver had gave Rosemary a bad memory and she couldn't take it so she applied to be release. When Rosemary was release the Giver had never seeded her again. The memories was returned back to the community, because of that their was a rule now the receiver of memory can not apply for release.

2.Jonas had learned that if you want to be released all you have to do is ask. I think if you want to watch a release, you have just simply to ask." Also I think so far the outlook on the book is Jonas will become a great receiver of memory because since he have help by the giver he will not make the same mistakes that the other receiver of memory's did. This is why I think Jonas is going to be a great receiver of memory.

  8. 1. She was one of the receiver before jonas came. the giver gave her memory something that she may love like good moment and other stuff like that he has done this cause he did not want her to feel uncomfortable. the rule that changed ever since she left is that nobody can release and jonas does not feel good about this.

    2. Jonas had learned that if you want to be released all u have to do is ask. It reveal to me as reader is that if the giver ever gave him something to jonas that he did not like he would probably ask to released.

  9. 1.The story of Rosemary was that she was too the Receiver Of memory before Jonas' ten years ago. The Giver loved Rosemary because everytime the giver gives her happy memories or with love she loved it very much. In the text it states "that she was eager to learn about this job". But the Giver was kind of sad because he needs to give her painful and sad memories to her not just happy memmories. He did'nt wanted to that because he loved her but he has to, so one day he gived her a bad memory of a child remove from his parents. From this memory she felt shocked that she had to experience that. After that eveytime the Giver gived good memories to her she wasn't the same because she didn't laugh at memories or smile, she couldn't take no more so she apply for realeased and that was time The Giver didn't saw her again.

2.Jonas' knows he can't ask for a realeased because its on his rules but at least ask the community if he could see how a realeased goes. This reveals to me that he is stock there as a Receiver for hes rest of his life until he is a Giver too. This tells about the outlook of this book because he met try running away because he would not like the memories that the giver is giving him.

So he gave her a memory of a loss and she was scared and surprised. But he continued to keep on giving her happy memories so he can see her smile but she was still frightened.

2.What Jonas learned was that if he wanted to see the people get released all he had to do was ask and then he would be allowed to watch them.It seems like Jonas is not liking how people are being released he finds it very hurtful and painful.
