  1. 1. The numbers for each person means the numbers they had been given at birth. The numbers were rarely used after the naming. In the text it says "Sometimes parents used them in irritation at a child's misbehavior, indicating that mischief made one unworthy of a name".

    2. I think they skip number nineteen because maybe the community have a really special assignment that no other 12 will get and was the only choosing one to get and i think they will call him last. Well I don't what kind of assignment he will get but I say its going to be a good one!

  3. 1. The numbers are given when your born, its "arranged by their original numbers". They really don't use them after their given their name. They're only use when a child's misbehaving.

    2. I assume that they skipped Jonas number because they are giving him a rare and unique assignment. I guess that they're gonna call him last. (Thats why they say; Save the best for last). I'm not gonna guess what assignment he got because i all really know.

  5. 1. The Numbers Each Person Haves Means The Order That They Were Born That Year They Was Born For Example In The Text It States " He Had Been The Nineteenth New Child Born His Year" The Text Clearly Supports My Answer.
    2. In Opinion I Think They Skipped Number Nineteen Because Maybe Jonas Had The Best Assignment Like He Thought And So The Chief Elder Decided To Call His Number Last. I Think That Jonas Going To Get An Assignment Just Not At That Moment. From What I Read So Far About Jones Throughout The Chapters I Think He Going To Get The Assignment Of Being A Lawyer Or A Person Who Make The Announcements Or Apart Of An Assignment Very Important.

  6. #1 The numbers means that they were a certain number that was born out of all the children in the community.

#2 Number nineteen was skipped because Jonas has been chosen working in an assignment that was very rare. Since they only had one reciever for a very long time then they decided that Jonas will be determined to be trained well and be a good reciever.

  8. 1) The numbers that they have are the numbers that they have received at birth. The parents only call them by there numbers when they dont have a name to call them and they are highly upset at that child.
    2) I think that they skipped him because they want to save the best for last. Also I think they skipped him because I think that they are going to give him a special celebration.

  11. 1)It was the number they got at birth, so there were 18 kids born before Jonas so he would be the 19th child. That is where their numbers come from. Then their year is put before the number. After the Ceremony of Twelve most isn't really nessecary to have your number because you could remember it.

2)The number 19 was skipped because this was Jonas' number. In ch 8 it stated " His number was skipped because the new Receiver of Memories is always given a special chant when his assignment is announced. So his new assignment was new Receiver. In my opinion I think this was a important assignment because it wasgiven a special chant.

  12. 1# what The numbers mean for each the person is the number that they are giving when they are born, because in the story Lois Lowry status that"they were arranged by their original numbers, the numbers they had been given at birth. The numbers were rarly uaed after the Naming."

2# I think they skipped number Nineteen because they are going to give Jonas's a special assignment to him.I think what will happen to Jonas regarding his Assignment is that he is going to be giving a more challenging and more difficult assignment.I think Jonas's eill be giving the assignment of receiver of memory.

  13. 1. The number of each person represent the 'naming'. The numbers were given at birth until they found a name for the child. For example, in the text it states "They were arranged by their original numbers, the numbers they had been given at birth. the numbers were rarely used after the Naming." This text shows that each child had a number until they were named. Also, they had to know their number.

2.In my opinion, I think that number nineteen was skipped because he wasn't maybe ready for his assignments. I think that Jonas might get releasedfrom the community because in the book they say that they will release those that don't have an assignments. If Jonas had a assignment I would say that he would still take care of the old because he knows the routine and he is good.
